    Kinlake-sound-collection-top-5-2015

I don’t hate Mondays, because my lifestyle does not allow myself to hate this day of the week. Everyday is a cool day and since I have Synesthesia, everyday also has another beautiful colour! No complain, just rainbow love. Another reason for me not to hate Mondays is because it’s the day Spotify renews my Discover list!!! Some weeks it’s awesome and I can add about 5 tracks to our Kinlake – Sound Collection, some other weeks the selection is kind of weird and I’m happy with only one new track.

For me the feeling of listening to a new track which makes my legs shake and say “man, this sounds cool” is simply the best. We’re now in 2016 and I thought a lot about curating a little list of my Top 5 favorite songs from last year. A new year is for me a new chapter in life, as years write your personal history whether you want it or not. Here’s a nice article I wrote not so long ago on Orla Collective about the subject. I love to hear a song and remember “hell yeah, the first time I heard this song was 4 years ago” for example, and I relate a lot of things around it. It serves as a nice quick meditative retrospective.

In no particular order, here are the 5 songs I discovered in 2015 (and got a total crush on):

    NUMBER 1

    JUNGLE by Legs

Heard this song last year in Crete, sipping a juice at our favorite terrace under the shiny greek sun. I had my headphones on, and Legs was on my discover channel. The song fits perfectly into a sunny environment, that’s true, but still, I liked everything about this song, and most importantly the rest of their work, too. I posted this song on Facebook and the band itself commented on it – that made my day. We even exchanged a few emails and I can’t wait to see these guys live around here!

    NUMBER 2

    MULTI-LOVE by Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Yes, this is a little more popular but I didn’t know them at all before. I was totally blown away by their psychedelic lo-fi pop sound. We saw them live a few months ago here in Luxembourg and the show was really great.

    NUMBER 3

LOVE OR PITY by Felt Tip

So simple yet so good. I mean, the drums are not that complex right, but do they always have to be? The video-clip of this song really got my attention too. Again, simple. I mean it’s really well done and you really get into the song perfectly. This song has these basic chords so well combined with the singers voice. A big crush for this beautiful song.

    NUMBER 4

YOU LOVE LIKE AN ANIMAL by Fai Baba

The name of the song sounds great already, doesn’t it? If you press play you get this explosive Fuzzy sound with a continuous marching rhythm that gets transformed into something mellow throughout the song. We saw them live a few days after I first discovered this song. They also play a Psychedelic Rock sound, well arranged and creative. A great energy on this song but it’s definitely the odd one in the whole album.

    NUMBER 5

    HOLD ME DOWN by Mansionair

Least but not last, ‘Hold Me Down’ is a song I briefly heard at Ready Coffeeshop in Luxembourg. I remember that I used Soundhound to remember the song before rehearsing in the evening when I totally drifted with this song. It’s dreamy, it’s so well arranged and yes, it’s think it’s really a great song.

David is a dreamer in love with details and a geeky being with an ability to teach himself anything. He loves to experiment with photography and videography to tell real stories and emotions through images, and he never stops learning about how to make the best websites. Besides his passion for visual creativity, he is also a multidisciplinary self-taught musician who worked on several projects including his own solo career. During creative work days he likes to discover new music and to collect it – he’s the curator behind all of our Kinlake playlists!
