A soul place is where one’s soul feels at home. It’s where senses awaken, where intuition cracks open, where creativity flows freely like a river.
As many of you know by now, we found our soul place on this island a few years ago, and our whole experience of it started in this very house that my parents built in between mountains and sea. At first, we didn’t really understand it, but with time it grew on us. It became a sanctuary where we learned to slow down, to take delight in the present and of each other’s company, where we let our minds wander so that we could create – more and with more freedom.
These days, we are in the process of creating such a sanctuary of our own. And that is the whole idea behind our home renovation project.
Yet, in the midst of this transition, we took a step back to document what our days have looked like in this place, from gently waking up to each other’s company, to moving to different corners of the house so we could work on our individual ideas. This is what these slow, creative days here have looked like. This is what happened when we have taken time for ourselves, to just “be” here and nowhere else.
Before we move forward in the future and create new such chapters in our own home, we wanted to document it. It was an incredible opportunity to continue practicing our video making skills, in order to be able to narrate this story visually.
Sharing this fruit of our labor on it was also in great timing with both of our personal creative journeys coming to life. Mine as an artist, David’s as a musician – and so what better way to introduce you to that by using some of the music he’s been working on, as a soundtrack? Yes, that’s right. If you enjoy the feel of this music, I would suggest you follow him as he is working on some really beautiful things.
What further motivated us to create this video is our beautiful collaboration with Thalassa Home, who sponsored this endeavour. We loved featuring their beautiful textiles in our film and soon enough, you’ll also see all our photography work for them on their instagram account. We are very selective with who we collaborate with, as we believe that we can only feel inspired if it truly fits with our own values – but we have truly fallen in love with this brand since the very beginning and we adore everything about that mediterranean, handcrafted, slow-living feel that it embodies. We couldn’t be more aligned, it just feels like we attracted each other.
