    Summer-Sunset-Playlist-Kinlake-03

After every summer you can always name a few songs that made this sunny season special. It feels good to remember these sunsets and lazy mornings spent under the ambiance of summer. It usually feels quite short though. Summer’s usually about these two months around august (for us that live in Europe :-P) and that’s it. Like a potent pill of good energy. But what if summer what a little longer? Like three or four times longer than usual?! Yes, that’s what we feel like.

We just came back to Luxembourg after our eight months escape in South east Asia, combined with some Australian summer. We left Luxembourg in October 2016 when it was insanely sunny and warm. Thailand and Indonesia were obviously warm but after that, Australia felt quite epic with really high temperatures in it’s early summer days. In Japan from February to April we had the best sunny spring to end up in Thailand again where it was once again, very sunny. We’ve been chasing the sun since a while now and it got really stuck in our backs as Luxembourg has been quite lovely since we arrived.

We thought it would be a good opportunity now to share with you a very special collection of songs that remind us of our unusual long summer and inspire you for your next sunny days.

If you want to start watching a new Comedy Show on Netflix with a great feeling of Santa Monica’s summer vibes, we recommend you ‘Flaked‘, starring Will Arnett. Even if the season two only has six short episodes you gonna fall in love with this song ‘Playing with Fire’ by Nick Leng in one episode.

We kinda love the name of this band as if you know a little bit of french, you can interpret it in two different ways. Their sound is very frenchy and so are they, Léo and Manu a creative and trendy duo.

A little more melancholic but perfect to remember some… yes, sunsets. This song ‘Sunsetz’ by Cigarettes After Sex is just one of the many beautiful smooth songs this band released lately in their latest album. I’ve discovered them in a very nice little coffeeshop called Taxidermy in Chiang Mai – Thailand a couple of weeks ago and can’t wait for their gig in Luxembourg in august!

Formed in 2006, Arms and Sleepers is a great duo from Boston & Portland – USA. Beautiful mellow beat on this track ‘Baby’. If you’re lucky you can try to purchase their latest album as a limited edition old ‘Cassette Tape’ on their official website. Cool huh?!

Right on the first week after we came back in Luxembourg we had the opportunity to enjoy some nice time at the Siren’s Call festival, where Napoleon Gold, a creative local duo performed live inside a church. It’s worth following this promising project.

You wanna feel cool with some low-profile music? ‘Motorique’ don’t have as many followers on Facebook as Justin Timberlake but they’re not less interesting. A retro keyboard sound with a nice bass line makes this song ‘Surfer’ the perfect summer companion.

Ruby Empress are described on their website as ‘both super deep and super light’. I guess that this is a nice way to put it. Take some time to also check out their website, I particularly like their branding around the latest album ‘Empressionism’.

Not such a fan of the design on this album ‘Pocket Music’ by Sun Rai, neither of the extremely boring video of this song ‘San Fransisco Street’ as the the music is in the other hand pretty good. Kind of a pity really.

Another duo from France! The dudes from the alternative pop band ‘Papooz’ definitely have a great sensibility to make well balanced music. Their latest album ‘Green Juice’ is as creative as they look like, pretty pop and fresh.

Back in our UK trip in 2015 we indulged with the TV show ‘Community’ in just a couple of weeks. (Spoiler alert!) One of my favorite characters being ‘Donald Glover’ we were really sad to see him leaving before the end of the show. But for our biggest surprise he appeared back in our life’s with this insanely addictive song called ‘Redbone’. Listen to it, you’ll quickly understand.

‘Ménage à trois’ might sound french again but it’s from Manchester – UK that these three fellow are originally. Very cool song to complete this little compilation of summer tracks.

Wherever you are, ready for summer or simply looking forward for some days somewhere where the summer is, enjoy these summer vibes fully.

As always, these songs are part of our main Kinlake playlist available in the link below. Check it out and remember to follow us to stay up to date!
