Re-Branding, Stationary, Packaging, Signage, Photography + Web Design

Small cafés & eateries with their own personality are totally our weakness. And during our career as a design studio, we’ve been quite lucky as we’ve had plenty of chances to take care of designing brands for such concepts! Those are always so much fun – yet our favourite one so far has to be Flowers Kitchen.

This is a lovely vegan café in Luxembourg, held by Maya, a woman passionate about delicious plant based food. She quit her draining job to follow her intuition and open a place which could allow her to pursue her dream – and so Flowers Kitchen was born.

After a couple of years, the café seemed to have become pretty successful and Maya was ready to explore things further. It was the perfect time for a complete re-branding, where she could get a professional makeover to what had previously just been a small temporary brand that she had started with. That’s when she got in touch and we made it our mission to look back at the very core and create a strong, beautiful brand that could represent everything that her business is for years to come. We were more than excited about it!


Branding Goal

The goal of this re-branding was to continue the visual journey of the café, but make it all come together in a way cleaner, and way more confident way. What we did was to look at it detail by detail, and of course get a few good references that would explain the inspiration.

We would re-use the guiding colors that had been present in the cafés interiors, such as peach + mint green. And since the name of the café itself is inspired by flowers, we had the intention to bring them into the brand identity in a simple way that could fit with the modern look that we were going for. We would also pay particular attention to the fonts, so that everything would look extremely fresh, flexible & timeless.

Designing the project


Drawing these simple flowers to incorporate in the new brand identity was so much fun! We particularly thought of representing wild flowers, to reflect a humble attitude and the message that “you can do beautiful things with what you have“. We also integrated some of them in cups/jars, as this is actually often used as decor in the café itself.

We created a modern type-based logo which we customized further to represent movements in nature, like stems of flowers going in different directions. The idea here was to keep things simple and timeless, so that it would have a playful touch but represent the brand for years to come.

When it comes to color, we particularly decided to put a full focus on the color peach, so that it could lead the brand with its own mood and that we could use it in a fresh, bold way.

It was so fun to see at it all coming together through the different collateral prints we designed, as well as the brand new signage and all materials for the café.

We love how simple it all looks and yet confident with these strong splashes of color. We kept that same look when designing the website for Flowers Kitchen which you can see here.
