So excited (& relieved) today! It’s time to finally share this latest personal project with you.
This, my friends, is a little video which we shot during our stay in Kyoto. It’s not really a video about Kyoto though, but rather a personal collection of thoughts. This was a good reason for us to experiment with narration over our own footage – the voices and words you’ll hear in the video are our own. That alone, was completely new to us and fun to experiment with.
It was hard to keep it short, when we had so much to say. The idea was to capture our awakening. Over the past year, we’ve experienced so many profound changes in our lives. Some of which really helped us dig deeper into the core of our purpose and realize what matters to us. Many signs and events happened to show us that we’re on our way to somewhere beautiful, and that somewhere is our inner happiness in its purest state.
Some places that we’ve travelled to have particularly inspired us to reflect upon ourselves. One of those places was Kyoto. Oh my. Kyoto really felt like a reflective yet transformative mirror. It’s hard to explain, so we tried to capture it visually, as part of this video.
David worked really hard on this one, whenever we had a bit of free time – for several weeks. Everything was made from scratch. Bits and pieces were filmed from our daily life in our Kyoto house, to walking around, to exploring hidden temples. Sounds were recorded with our little portable microphone, then we wrote our words and recorded our own voices several times (hiding our recording equipment in the dresser as a make-shift recording nook, haha!). David composed a melodic soundtrack to capture the mood. Several days and nights were spent putting together all the pieces of this puzzle. And here it is now. We’re so happy about it! This video really, really means a lot to us.
It feels like a capture of our state of mind at the moment. In this way, we’re sure that it will give us a good incentive to do more of these videos, to capture more such things in the future in other places that reflect and “speak” to our soul. It will be hard to beat Kyoto though, but we’ll see.
